Dr. David S. Memel is the Vice President of Health Economics and Outcomes Research for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceutics, Inc. where he oversees the continued evolution of the HEOR Value Demonstration, Informatics and Field Teams. Dr. Memel also serves as a key participant in BI’s global efforts to expand engagement in real world evidence generation, and is a major contributor to BI’s strategy for expanded relationships with organized customers. He is skilled in traversing the intersection of medicine, science, business and technology; and is an expert in the strategic use of information to accelerate research, improve healthcare and drive business value.
Dr. Memel’s previous positions include Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Analytics for LifeCare, Inc., Head of Informatics for Aetna, Inc., Global Chief Medical Officer for Roche Professional Diagnostics, Director of Medical Data Management and Analytics and Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research for Roche Pharmaceuticals, and Vice-President of Information Management and Quality Improvement for PeaceHealth.
He began his career as a diagnostic and interventional radiologist practicing in US and European academic medical centers. He received his BS and MD from the University of California at Los Angeles, his MS in Medical Informatics from the University of Utah School of Medicine, and his MBA from Cornell University and Queen’s University. Dr. Memel also completed a Fellowship in Clinical Effectiveness Research at the Harvard School of Public Health.
