What is the Summit?
The HITLAB Innovators Summit℠ brings together leaders in public health, medicine, technology, and design to discuss health issues and solutions in a live event. The Summit offers a series of carefully curated talks, panels, and collaboration opportunities to engage the most creative minds in health and technology.
The HITLAB Innovators Summit culminates in the HITLAB World Cup℠, an international challenge of unparalleled diversity where innovators present original solutions to pressing global healthcare challenges.
Where and when is the Summit?
The HITLAB Innovators Summit will be held November 29 - December 1, 2016 at Alfred Lerner Hall, Columbia University in New York City.
What time does the Summit begin and end?
The Summit officially kicks off at 9:00 AM, Tuesday, November 29. It ends Thursday, December 1, at 5:00 PM.
What is the Summit dress code?
The standard attire for the HITLAB Innovators Summit is business casual.
What is the agenda for the Summit?
There will be sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please click here to access the current agenda, which is subject to change.

Can I choose to attend only some of the sessions/events?
Yes. We invite you to make the best use of your time and attend as many sessions as you can. Attendance at sessions and affiliated events is voluntary and up to your discretion. Keep in mind we offer a limited number of single-day passes by request only but do not offer by-the-session registration rates.
I have a brilliant idea for a new startup that, if funded, will revolutionize healthcare, eradicate the national deficit, and cure diseases. Can I still submit it as a contender in the 2016 HITLAB World Cup?
November 7, 2016 is the deadline. We anticipate hosting the competition and the Summit again in 2017. In the meantime, we encourage you to apply to attend the Summit and meet the wonderful array of professionals who will attend and seek partners to advance your technology. That is the essence of the Summit. Apply here.
How do I register for the Summit?
Apply to attend at http://www.hitlabsummit.com/register-nyc.
Once approved, you will receive an invitation with a link to register. All registration takes place via Eventbrite and accepted payments are subject to their current terms. Registration will remain open through the end of the first day of the event or until tickets are sold out, whichever comes first. Eventbrite will deliver tickets electronically as a PDF. At check-in, please be ready with printed tickets or to show your registration confirmation electronically. If you arrive at the event and wish to register “on-site,” you will be directed to the Eventbrite page to handle your registration electronically. To confirm, cash, check, money order, and manual card swiping will not be accepted on site.
Why can’t I register for or with a group?
To provide proper assistance and to support attendees in the case of technical issues with the system, we require that each attendee register separately. Also, in the case of correcting or transferring a registration, we may better assist you when all registration records are individually identifiable.
Can I pay by check or cash?
No. Accepted forms of payment are determined by Eventbrite, our selected vendor for managing event registrations. If you have extenuating circumstances that require an alternative, please contact email@example.com for assistance.
Can I transfer my registration to another person, such as a colleague?
This is subject to approval by HITLAB. Email summit@HITLAB.org with the name of the originally registered attendee, the individual replacing him/her, and your event confirmation, either forwarding the original email or attaching the PDF tickets. To complete the transfer, we will need to obtain all the info you provided at registration for the transfer recipient. Transfer requests will not be met if they are initiated after 5:00 PM Eastern on Monday, November 28, 2016.
Can I get a refund?
No. All individual registrations are final and non-refundable. You may, however, transfer your registration to another individual upon approval by HITLAB.
When is the registration deadline?
You may register until the end of the first day of the Summit, specifically 11:59 PM Eastern on Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
When do I get a confirmation on my ticket purchases?
After payment is accepted, Eventbrite sends a registration confirmation email to the address you provided when you registered. Confirmation is within the email and tickets are attached as a PDF. At check-in, you must bring printed PDF tickets or show the PDF on a mobile device.
I never received confirmation that I purchased a ticket. What should I do?
First, search your SPAM folder for an email from Eventbrite. Also add firstname.lastname@example.org to your contacts to avoid future issues. If you are unable to find the confirmation, email email@example.com with your name and the date and approximate time you registered, and we will check Eventbrite to see if your registration went through.
Is there early bird registration for the conference?

Can I pay less if I only attend one day of the conference?
We offer a limited amount of single day passes by request only.
Sponsors and Partnerships
Individuals presenting or speaking (i.e. speaker, panelist, exhibitor, partner, etc.) at the HITLAB Innovator’s Summit are speaking on their own behalf and their comments may not necessarily represent the views of HITLAB and other Summit participants
I was contacted by one of your sponsors; how did they get my information?
What if I want to speak/present at the conference?
While we are finalizing the agenda for 2016 and there may be variations to the currently posted schedule, we are no longer accepting submissions for the 2016 Summit. Please contact summit@HITLAB.org to voice your desire to participate in the Summit in 2017.
Can my company/organization sponsor or exhibit?
There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities to promote your organization at the HITLAB Innovators Summit, both during the main events and in the exhibitor hall. Purchasing a booth in the exhibitor hall is a great and relatively cost-effective way to get involved and introduce yourself and your business to the Summit community. If you’re interested please contact summit@HITLAB.org and we will be in touch with available options. The deadlines for exhibitor tables are that requests must be submitted by November 15 and paid in full by November 23 at 5:00 PM Eastern. Payments made and spaces reserved may be automatically forfeited if full payment is not received in time.
Press Passes are available to all of our HITLAB Innovators Summit events. If you are a member of the press and wish to cover the Summit and/or the HITLAB World Cup, please fill out an application here. Press Passes are strictly monitored and not transferable.
Discount Codes/Scholarship Tickets
Are there any scholarships/discounts?
Speakers, stakeholders, and other affiliates of HITLAB have been provided a variety of discount codes to use for themselves or to offer to others. Codes must be applied at the time of registration. No code may be retroactively applied to an already completed registration. Please continue to check this page or website for any new discount/scholarship opportunities.
I would like to attend a HITLAB Innovators Summit and work for a start-up / early-stage company. Our resources are tight. What are my options?
We understand the tight demands common to running a start-up business, and start-ups are an integral component of the Summit community. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Can I attend as a volunteer?
Yes. We have had great success in having people, particularly students, volunteer at the Summit in exchange for a registration. We want everyone who desires to attend to actually attend and participate in the community. Information about volunteer opportunities is available here.
I’m not a student, and I don’t work for a startup. I’m at a charitable organization / NGO. What about me?

What are the security measures?
The Summit is held at Columbia University, a private property with its own Public Safety system. No additional measures are provided for any individuals attending the Summit, and HITLAB assumes no risk or responsibility for security measures at the Summit. While we don't anticipate any risk of physical harm, attendees participate at their own risk. You may find information about Columbia’s Public Safety system here.
